Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how TechVerse ("we," "our," or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website. By using our website, you consent to the use of cookies in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree to our use of cookies, you should disable them or refrain from using our website.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to the website owners. Cookies can be "persistent" or "session" cookies. Persistent cookies remain on your device after you close your browser, while session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.

How We Use Cookies and Local Storage

We use both traditional cookies and browser local storage to enhance your experience on our website. Local storage is similar to cookies but can store larger amounts of data and does not expire automatically.
1. Essential Cookies and Storage
These are necessary for the website to function properly. They enable core functionality such as security, authentication, and accessibility.
•Authentication Sessions: We use browser local storage to maintain your login session. When you log in as a customer (via email verification) or employee (via email/password), your authentication state is stored locally for up to 7 days. This keeps you logged in between visits without requiring you to re-authenticate each time.
•Email Verification: When you sign up as a customer, we send a verification email with a 6-digit OTP code that expires after 10 minutes. The code is SHA-256 hashed and stored temporarily in our SQLite database until verified.
•Consent Preferences: We store your cookie consent choices in local storage to remember your privacy preferences.
•Session Identifiers: Temporary identifiers used to track your session for security and functionality purposes.
2. Analytics Cookies
We use analytics cookies to understand how visitors interact with our website, helping us improve user experience and services.
•Google Analytics 4: We use Google Analytics to collect information about how you use our website, including pages you visit and how long you spend on them, how you arrived at our website, your device type/browser/operating system, your approximate geographic location (country/city level), and interactions with specific features and content.
•Google Analytics cookies include: _ga, _ga_*, _gid, _gat
•These cookies typically expire after 2 years, though some are session-based
3. Business Email Requirement
For customer authentication, we require business email addresses:
•Free email providers (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook, etc.) are not accepted for customer accounts
•Email verification codes (6-digit OTP) are sent via Hostinger SMTP and expire after 10 minutes
•Verification codes are SHA-256 hashed for security
•Once verified, your session is stored in local storage for 7 days

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on our website are set by third-party services:
•Google Analytics: Google LLC sets cookies to track and analyze website usage. Google's use of analytics cookies is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not have control over these third-party cookies. We recommend reviewing the respective privacy policies of these third-party services for more information.

Local Storage Data

In addition to cookies, we use browser local storage to store:
•techverse_employee_auth: Employee authentication session data (expires after 7 days). Stores email and session token for password-based authentication.
•techverse_customer_auth: Customer authentication session data (expires after 7 days). Stores email verification status and session information after successful email verification.
•techverse_user_consent: Your privacy and cookie consent preferences
•techverse_dev_notice_dismissed: Tracks whether you've dismissed the development notice banner
Local storage persists until explicitly cleared or until the data expires. Unlike cookies, local storage data is not sent to the server with every request, making it more efficient for storing larger amounts of data locally. All authentication data is stored in our SQLite database on the server side.
