Stride Sensor

Product Information

Collect cadence and speed data while running. Attach to the laces of your shoes and pair with the Fisica Sensor or Case to start analyzing your running data.
Fisica wirelessly connects your iPhone to your favorite ANT+ fitness measuring devices. With fisica, your phone, your favorite playlists, the best fitness Apps and real-time activity information are all in the palm of your hand - or on your arm, or mounted on your bike, or in your pocket.

Overview:

The Wahoo Fitness Foot Pod uses the latest technology and intelligent software algorithms for one purpose – to provide exceptionally accurate, real-time speed and distance information for jogging and walking. Because of the limitations of commercially available GPS receivers, a foot pod can be an invaluable part to any fitness regime which is why we strive for accuracy. Even outside of the confines of a gym or when trail running, the Wahoo Fitness Food Pod generally outperforms most GPS-based devices for speed and distance measurements.

The Wahoo Fitness Foot Pod uses two high precision accelerometers to interpret factors about a user’s stride to ultimately calculate performance information including the most critical data – distance and speed. This data is then transmitted to a receiver using the ubiquitous ANT+ protocol. Like the Wahoo Fitness Heart Rate Strap, the Foot Pod is specially designed to work with the fisica wireless sensor interface but, because it transmits using the standardized ANT+ protocol it works with any foot pod receiver or watch that communicates using ANT+.

Please do not confuse this technology with devices by a certain shoe company that attempt to determine pace by counting steps.  Our device will provide at minimum 95% accuracy whether you are walking or sprinting without calibration.  App partners are free to get as creative as they wish with calibration if they so desire.  In a recent half marathon, mine reported 13.11 miles at the finish without calibration.

Q & A

    What is it?
  • Your Wahoo Fitness Stride Sensor is a device worn on your shoe which uses a 3-axis accelerometer to determine your distance and speed while walking, running or hiking.
    How do I use it?
  • Before shoe laces are tightened, slide Cradle under two or three sets of crossing laces (depending on eyelet spacing) near the toe. The narrow end of the cradle should be pointing toward the toe. Tighten laces. It does not matter if the Stride Sensor is on the left or right shoe.
  • Snap the Stride Sensor into the cradle so that the laces are sandwiched between the Cradle and the Sensor. Ensure the Stride Sensor ‘snaps’ securely into place at all four connection points and the narrow end of the sensor is pointing toward your toes.
  • Once in place, move within 5’ - 10’ of any device that receives ANT+ wireless data.
How do I wake the sensor up?
  • Your Stride Sensor ‘sleeps’ with inactivity and ‘awakens’ when readings begin so a few steps may be required before the sensor begins emitting data.
How do I pair and calibrate it with my device?
  • Each Wahoo Fitness Sensor has a unique identification code and can be uniquely paried with a display device or reader so that it will always be recognized when it is activated and within range. In addition, your Stride Sensor can be calibrated for greater accuracy. Since each reader is unique, you should reference the instructions of your reader for pairing and calibration techniques.
How do I change the battery?
  • The battery in your Wahoo Fitness Stride Sensor is located behind a cover on the back of your Stride Sensor and can be replaced by placing a coin in the slot and turning the cover 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Replace with a 3 volt CR2032 battery (contact a local waste handling group for proper disposal of old battery). Wait 45 seconds before installing the new battery to ensure the electronics fully reset.
